Allenby gives homeless saviour $1000 during emotional reunion

Aussie golfer Robert Allenby has given the homeless woman who found him after he was kidnapped and bashed $1000 during an emotional reunion.

Video of the meeting shows an emotional Mr Allenby and his rescuer Charade Keane in heartfelt embrace.

"I appreciate what you did for me," he said to his homeless saviour before offering up the sum as a token of his gratitude.

"I know I don't have to do it, but I'm going to and you have to take it," he told the protesting Ms Keane before one final hug.

Reunited on the street where Ms Keane first spotted the bloodied and confused golfer, she explained "he was sitting right here, and that's where I saw he was hurting."

Mr Allenby recalled asking "where am I?"

"She kept dragging me and dragging me, and we kept looking behind us and they kept following and following," he said.

"I have two hours of my life I don't know anything about," he added, giving credence to speculation that he was drugged by his attackers.

When asked whether she believed Mr Allenby's claim that he was set upon by the group on Saturday about 10.50pm after missing the cut at the Sony Open, Ms Keane replied "I believe him, I know he was there and he was hurt and he was robbed."

In response to those who say he made up the bashing for attention, Mr Allenby said you only needed to look at his face to know he's telling the truth.

"It's such a shame that people are focusing on whether the story is true," he told the Golf Channel in a text. "I say you only have to look at me to see the truth."

CCTV footage showed him surrounded by up to five men, after he and a friend had finished dining at the up-market AMUSE Wine Bar in Honolulu, according to reports.

The veteran golfer says he was then allegedly knocked unconscious, placed in a boot and dumped 10km from his hotel.

Ms Keane had earlier contradicted this claim, telling reporters that she was only one block from the wine bar when she found the bloodied golfer.

Mr Allenby has withdrawn from the PGA event in California at the direction of doctors and hopes to make a full recovery before returning to the tour.

Honolulu police are investigating the case as a second-degree robbery.
