Chadian police have vowed to arrest anyone wearing a full face veil after a suicide bomber disguised as a woman killed 15 people in an attack at a marketplace in the African nation’s capital.

After he was stopped by security at the N’Djamena market entrance, the offender detonated an explosives belt, also injuring at least 80, according to Al Jazeera.

Nine of the dead were female market traders.

Police spokesman Paul Manga said the attack “justified” the ban on full-face veils and said the country must respect the restriction.

“Anyone who does not obey the law will be automatically arrested and brought to justice,” he said.

Boko Haram, a jihadist group based in north-eastern Nigeria, claimed responsibility on Twitter and referred to themselves as “Islamic State, West Africa province”.
