Peter Dutton’s brain snap seems to be contagious, with veteran ABC journalist Emma Alberici accidentally swearing on live television while discussing the Immigration Minister's infamous text message.

Alberici was left in a wide-eyed state of shock at herself after saying 'mad b—ch' on ABC News Breakfast this morning.

The journalist was discussing Dutton, who recently apologised for accidentally sending News Corp journalist Samantha Maiden an SMS calling her a "mad f--ing witch".

Alberici had asked fellow ABC journalist Paul Kennedy: "Have you ever sent anybody a text mistakenly, or an email, and it's got you into trouble?"

The sports journalist replied, "No, I have not called someone a mad witch".

Alberici then attempted to repeat the phrase.

But what was broadcast next is not the typical ABC style of commentary, with Alberici accidentally blurting out "mad b--ch".

She quickly corrected herself after the red-faced slip of the tongue.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has been caught up in the saga surrounding disgraced former minister Jamie Briggs, after being named as the politician who sent Maiden an offensive text following her coverage of the scandal.
