Ready, set, roll! 75,000 Jaffas stream down world’s steepest hill in Dunedin

A sea of colourful chocolate balls have rolled down the world’s steepest hill located in New Zealand.

The annual Cabury Jaffa Race and World’s Steepest Street party was held on Baldwin street, Dunedin.

Boasting a gravity-defying 19 degree gradient, the residential street is the “world’s steepest” according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Up to 15,000 onlookers crammed onto the street keen to participate in the sweet action.

Three races were held, with approximately 25,000 Jaffas in each event.

The speediest Jaffa in the event is reported to have reached 100km/hr.

Each of the chocolate spheres were numbered, with a prize for the person who bought a ticket with the same number of the chosen Jaffa.

The tasty event aimed to raise $75,000 for various charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Surf Life Saving New Zealand.

Jaffas are trademarked by Cabury, and consist of an orange-flavoured chocolate centre encased in a glossy candy shell.
