Episode 36 recap: Auction Day conspiracy erupts as team’s secret connection revealed, before Block royalty savages ‘cheap’ house

Today’s the big day – Wyatt’s birthday!
“I don’t want to be here today, I’m not in a good mood,” he complains on the way to site.
It’s my partyyy and I’ll sulk if I want toooo Nine
OK, fine. Let’s start again.
Today’s the big day – the Domain open home, with $50,000 on the line!
From rain dances to rainbows, the teams are literally looking to the sky for signs it’s going to be a good night.
While most teams are hustling to get everything schmick on time, House 2 are surprisingly relaxed.
This attitude has Sev whipping out her tinfoil hat again.
She and Courtney have a conspiracy that Chantel and Wyatt already have an auction day buyer locked in, which is why they aren’t bothered by bad feedback from the judges or trying to impress with the Domain open house.
Courtney thinks she’s figured it all out, pointing to Gold Coast businessman Travers ‘Candyman’ Beynon, who just so happens to be Chantel’s brother-in-law.
OK … kudos on those detective skills, Court!
She shares this with Rosco and Adam, so before long, everyone knows.
Tools, snags, secret spots for gossiping - Bunnings has it all! Nine
And everyone believes it.
The Cursio brothers decide to go straight to the source and ask Chantel and Wyatt directly.
They just laugh and deny it, but admit that would be a good idea.
“I’m going to ask him to buy it now though,” Wyatt reckons.
Snapped? Nine
After some last-minute sign wars and a Christian Cole delivery, the potential buyers start pouring in.
Including one very familiar face, auction day nuisance, Danny Wallis. The man’s ridiculous bids make math very hard, but it’s hard to deny he’s a Block legend.
Scott Cam gives him a tour through the houses, where the vibes are high and feedback is great.
That is until Danny reaches House 5.
Not even a big hug from Tayla can redeem this for him.
“This’ll be a cheap one,” he grumbles, telling Scotty he doesn’t even need to see downstairs.
Um, ouch.
He haaaaaates it. Nine
The votes from Block heavy hitters prove it’s anyone’s game come Auction Day.
Danny casts his vote for House 1. He doesn’t like House 2 or 5 at all, and the others are “OK”.
Meanwhile, the favourite of buyers advocate Frank Valentic, who says he had about 50 buyers on site tonight, is House 2, with House 3 not far behind.
As the votes are cast, barista Tina gives Adam and Jolene some goss about House 4’s living room re-do.
“They’ve done the exact mirror and fireplace as you guys,” Tina spills.
While Adam tries to spin it as a compliment, Jolene is going with “copycats”.
Now all there is left to do is find out who has won!
Scotty reveals each teams' percentage of the vote:
- Adam and Jolene: 29
- Chantel and Wyatt: 20
- Lisa and Rosco: 23
- Courtney and Sev: 13
- Rick and Tayla: 15
Huge win!!! Nine
It’s a very comprehensive victory for House 1!
The next morning, as the excitement wears off, Jolene reflects on Lisa and Rosco being the own duo to congratulate them.
However, I imagine that stings less when they’re whisked away to a fancy lunch with Shelley Craft and Domain’s Alice Stolz, who tell them they’ve clearly got the best house on The Block.
Oh, and gift them a secret bonus point gnome necklace.
It’s allll coming up House 1!
On Monday night, we’ll see if that good fortune continues into the Room Reveal … tune in then!
