Scott Cam lets teams in on the three secrets to success as they begin first build on The Block 2025

Arriving on The Block is always very daunting for new teams – but luckily, host Scott Cam is always available with some sage advice.

As their 12-week journey got underway, this year's fresh batch of Blockheads learned they would be working on their bathrooms this week.

In a bid to help them feel a little less like a deer in the headlights, Scotty was on hand to deliver some sage advice.

After first ribbing WA contestant Taz for his many, many layers on what would become a 32 degree day, Scotty told the teams to take note of this week's assigned $20,000 budget.

He said the key to winning was to aim well below that number.

"This is a real estate game, it's a construction game and it's a budget game," he explained.

He suggested they should be aiming to come under budget by about $2,000 each week, and divert all that saved cash to landscaping.

"I guarantee you when you get to the bottom, you're gonna be short."

As the builds got underway, some teams were more confident that others.

While some, like Adelaide best mates Robby and Mat, had never even done a reno before, Block superfans Emma and Ben told the host they'd already completed at least seven bathrooms.

"Should I give you the $10,000 now?" Scotty joked.

If only it was that easy!

The Block continues Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 7:00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
