MAFS bride Charlene Perera surprises fans with engagement news
She was the bride who captured the hearts of Australia during Season 5 of Married At First Sight and now it seems like someone else has captured hers.
Charlene Perera has shared the exciting news that she is now engaged to her partner, Jonathan Byrnes.

But that wasn't the only surprise — she revealed that it happened months ago.
She surprised fans on her Instagram, showing off her new ring. "Then in July this special thing happened….. #phototimelinecatchup.💕 My very clever Mr. Byrnes💕," she captioned the photos.
Her happy news was delayed because her Instagram had been hacked. Charlene revealed she finally got access back to her account this week; her last post before that was from April.
Charlene included a series of pics of the pair looking glam on what seems like a fancy dinner date, where he popped the question.
Her MAFS family shared their support in the comment section.
"Oh yeah…. Huge congratulations 🎉 ❤️," Melissa Walsh wrote.
Tracey Jewel also commented "Congrats!!! ❤️🙌."
The pair have been together for almost a year now but Charlene knew early on that she had found The One.

In a previous interview with 9Entertainment, Charlene said the couple met on dating app Bumble. She also said that things between them moved quite fast but it just felt right.
"If I'm a mile-a-minute, he's two-and-a-half miles a minute," she said.
And it didn't take long for Charlene and Jonathan to move in together — the pair have now been living together since January 2021.
The 37-year-old posted a photo of herself and Jonathan in front of a removalist truck, captioned "Moving day phase 1!!!!! Smashing it out like dynamite 🧨 🔥 👊🏾🥰."
Prior to meeting and falling in love with Jonathan, Charlene was partnered with Patrick on MAFS.

But while they did create a strong friendship during their season, they lacked a romantic connection and decided to go their separate ways.
