Love Island UK's Maura Higgins and Christopher Taylor split after six months together
Love Island UK's Maura Higgins and Christopher Taylor have called it quits.
The reality stars both shared the news on their Instagram stories, revealing their "joint decision" to end their relationship after almost six months together.

Despite being single, both Maura and Chris have stressed that they remain good friends.

"It breaks my heart to even type this. But I wanted to let everyone know that myself and Chris have made the joint decision to end our relationship," Maura wrote.
"There is no wrongdoing on either side. We still love, care and respect reach other deeply. From the minute we met each other we've been very close friends and that will never change.
"There is no regret. Life is about taking chances. We wanted to make this work, but we have realized we work better being friends.
"Whilst I appreciate people may speculate or create false stories. This is the truth. I wish Chris nothing but the best and I will always be one of his biggest supporters X.
"Thank you for all the love and support."

Chris shared a similar message on his Instagram.
"Hey guys. After some very heart felt conversations over the past few days, myself and Maura are very sad to announce that we have decided to part ways," he wrote.
"We are both still on very good terms and this was a mutual decision where nobody had done anything wrong. We will remain friends, as we have been since day one and I will always be in Maura's corner and have her back.
"We are both going through a very rough time with this at the moment, so please take any speculation with a metric tonne of salt, because this is the only truth (and as always, trolls can kindly f--k off)
"Thank you for all the love and support you've given us; it's truly been appreciated."

The speculation they're talking about could stem from a post Chris shared on his Instagram in late April.
"Sorry for being born a grade A penis babe & thanks for your patience 😘," he captioned the post, a subtle hint that there were some struggles in their relationship in the weeks prior to their breakup.
While Maura and Chris met on Love Island UK Season 5, they weren't an item on the show.
At the time Christopher was with Harley Brash and Maura with Curtis Pritchard. Both couples broke up after leaving the Villa.
Over time Maura and Christopher became close friends, regularly appearing in each other's Instagram posts, often in a humorous way. Then they broke the news that they'd progressed beyond friendship.
