Catriona Rowntree's unique travel 'first' after 35 years of hosting Getaway

Throughout her 35 years and 30 seasons on Getaway, Catriona Rowntree has seemingly done it all.
But occasionally, the host finds a whole new experience. Like sitting in a spa bath high up in the Victorian alps, with a glass of wine and an unusual accessory.

"Well I have to admit, this is the first time I've had a bath in a beanie," she shared from a luxe scene during the mountain's Alpine Nature Experience.
"And you have to admit this location is pretty epic. What a spot for a hot tub, and just in case you're wondering, it is as hot as the most delicious bath. It is so cosy," she continued.

High up in the Victorian alps might usually be the domain of keen skiers or snowboarders – but near Mount Hotham, Catriona found the ultimate snow adventure for everyone, with or without skis.
A secluded eco-glamping village awaits with mulled wine, cheese fondue and a steaming outdoor hot tub, all set against a breathtaking alpine backdrop.

The ski resort town of Mount Hotham is a 4.5 hour drive northeast of Melbourne. Tucked among the snowgums nearby, Alpine Nature Experience is a unique off-grid glamping village that blends the charm of the French Alps with the beauty of the Australian wilderness.
Catriona's experience began with a gentle 20 minute snowshoe trek with fantastic views and a feeling of blissful solitude. After a quick tour of the site, Catriona settled into the central communal tipi tent, where owner Jean-Francois revealed the secret to creating traditional fondue - cheese from his hometown in France, and of course garlic and wine! Sipping homemade mulled wine and swirling pieces of baguette through the gooey yummy fondue, Catriona was in heaven!
For an overnight stay, the eco-village features three unique Hypedomes, like igloos, made from transparent and reflective panels. They offer privacy and uninterrupted views of the snowy wonderland outside, perfect for stargazing from the warmth of your bed. Each cosy dome is equipped with a fireplace, sink, USB charging and lots of warm woollen bedding. The furniture is made from recycled timber, there is a compostable toilet and the entire campsite is run on solar and renewable energy. There is also an outdoor bar and fire pit, perfect for exchanging stories late into the night!
After a hearty breakfast, Catriona climbed aboard a skimobile for a scenic ride through the beautiful high country, but it wouldn't be the most unique snow glamping experience without the option of taking a dip in Australia's highest woodfired hot tub! Complete with snow-bunny beanie, Catriona relaxed in the steaming hot bath, which was just the thing for easing those sore skiing muscles!
