The world's first underwater restaurant has opened

The world’s first underwater restaurant has opened 16ft below sea level in the Maldives and it may be the best eatery we’ve ever clapped our eyes on.

The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is found in the middle of the Indian Ocean, where the seas are as blue as they come. The perfect backdrop for dinner.

Located in the Conrad Maldives Hotel on Rangali Island, the uber luxe experience starts with diners walking to the end of a jetty before descending down a spiral staircase into the coral reef below. 

It kind of like a chic aquarium from the inside. A chic aquarium that serves rather extravagant food, with the menu bizarrely being very seafood heavy.

The cost for lunch alone is $150, with the likes of lobster-stuffed pasta with burrata, prawn tartar and caviar on offer.

It can only accommodate 14 diners at a time, giving exclusivity a new meaning.
