In the latest incident to make us collectively dry-retch and lose faith in public transport, a woman has been filmed on a train trimming another man's toenails.

The viral video appeared on the popular Instagram channel PassengerShaming, which documents the gross and inappropriate behaviour of commuters.

Footage of the incident was captioned "Happy Monday! #choochoo," suggesting the gross act took place on a train.

The disturbing clip shows a female passenger as she painstakingly clips her travelling partner's toenails, while he relaxes in his seat. It's unclear what she's doing with the nail clippings.

The identity of the couple and the destination of the train isn't made known in the viral video.

Unsurprisingly the video, which has already had more than 219,000 views at the time of writing, has drawn some strong reactions from viewers.

Instagram has slammed the public act as 'vile' and 'disgusting'. Instagram: @PassengerShaming

"Where's all the shavings and clippings going? I'm sure she has a tarp underneath them," wrote one viewer.

"Seriously I am so disturbed by how many people think this is ok. Why would you ever think clipping someone's toenails on public transportation it ok?" another shocked commenter wrote.

Other comments ranged from "Ugh, just no," to "That is disgusting."

"I'd be telling her to knock that off. Vile," another repulsed user chimed in.

Wierdly, some users took the comments section to praise the couple and the uncomfortably intimate gesture.

"Well that's love right there," one Instagram user said.

"That's both disgusting and adorable at the same time," another admitted.
