Washington, DC's W Hotel introduces $500,000 presidential inauguration package

Forget the presidential suite – one Washington, DC, hotel wants you to party like a freshly elected Commander-in-Chief with a three-night package worth $656,000 (US $500,000) a pop.

The W Hotel offer includes unlimited champagne, a Saks Fifth Avenue shopping spree, and a rooftop party with 250 of your most politically inclined friends when Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump make the official move to the White House in January.

Guests will stay in the hotel's 358-square-metre Extreme-WOW suite, which boasts a 12-person dining room and a tub overlooking the famed Washington Monument, while the hotel's rooftop terrace offers sweeping views over the White House lawns.

The buyer will also be treated to a first-class flight from anywhere in the continental US and transport by private chauffer, catered meals, and a private tour of the city's famed "inaugural-based" monuments.

The package is a first for the hotel chain, and resembles an offer from one of Trump's own hotels.

"We realised that what guests ultimately want is to truly be an insider on inauguration weekend," General Manager Meade Atkeson said in a statement.
