Virgin Australia reunites lost teddy bear with Perth boy after flight: 'Update you've been waiting for'

Virgin Australia has been able to reunite a young boy with his teddy bear thanks to the power of the internet.

Less than a day after putting a call out on Facebook over the lost furry friend, found after a recent flight to Perth, the Aussie airline shared the "update you've been waiting for".

"Meet Harry, Teddy's beary happy little owner," Virgin wrote. "We're sure Teddy will be getting lots of snuggles tonight."

The "mission to reunite" first kicked off on Monday, when the airline posted a series of photos of the Teddy on the plane, including the cuddly toy looking out the window, and in the cockpit. He even donned a flight attendant scarf.

"We're sure there's a beary upset little one at home missing their furry friend," Virgin Australia wrote.

"If you've flown into Perth recently and seem to have lost one of your pack while travelling, this cuddly bear has been on quite the adventure and is ready for a snuggle with its best friend."

The post received over 10,000 likes and 1,500 shares, with people thanking the airline in the comments and participating in the hunt for the owner.

"Aww bless haha. Hope he finds his friend," one person wrote.

"Awesome post and hope he is reunited soon! Can only imagine how upset his owner would be at losing him," another wrote.

While a third said: "This is the kindest thing I've seen anyone (in Australia) do for someone else in a very long time!!"

Sure enough within just a few hours the airline shared an update: "We think we have found this little one's family! Mission to reunite is underway!"

After another short journey, Teddy and his friend Harry were reunited in Perth.

The heartwarming endeavour even caught the attention of Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, who shared his joy at the happy ending.

"Well done on this reunion Virgin Australia and happy reunion Harry and Teddy," he commented.
