Surprising European island tops list of international trending destinations for Aussies this winter
Every winter, like clockwork, Aussies realise they hate the cold and dream about booking a holiday to a destination with much warmer weather.
This year, along with the classic faves (Bali, Tokyo, Hawaii), some new trending destinations have entered the mix as Australians start planning their trips.
Expedia has released its Winter Travel Outlook, detailing the top trending international destinations that we're setting our sights on.

10. Bangkok, Thailand
Rounding out the top ten is Thailand's capital city.
While the country has long been a favourite warm-weather destination for Aussies, usually we gravitate toward the islands in the south.
Bangkok offers a great getaway experience for anyone who loves the hustle and bustle of a big city.
9. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
The first of two Vietnamese destinations to pop up on this list, Ho Chi Minh City has seen a 35 per cent increase in searches.
Commonly known as Saigon, the city has warm weather, great food, and endless cultural activities.
7. Greece, Athens
Athens may be ancient, but it's still a trending spot in the eyes of Aussie travellers.
Whether you're a foodie, a history buff, or there to soak up the sun and the cocktails, Athens has something for everyone.
6. Nice, France
This coastal city in the south of France has seen a 45 per cent increase in tourist searches.
Typically travellers tend to fly into Paris and then move on to other countries from there, but it seems as though Aussies are becoming more interested in seeing more of the French country.
5. Da Nang, Vietnam
Another city in Vietnam that's trending on Expedia, Da Nang is a sunny coastal town with long stretches of sandy beach.
It's a great place to escape the winter chill of Australia and soak up some warm rays. Plus, the endless banh mi and bowls of pho are great drawcards.
4. Osaka, Japan
As more and more travellers flock to Japan, people have begun looking outside the typical tourist city of Tokyo.
Osaka has seen a 55 per cent increase in searches. The city is known for its food and fun nightlife, plus the history and culture for which Japan is famous.
3. Seoul, South Korea
Another location that perfectly blends historical culture with modern, high-tech conveniences, Seoul is slowly becoming a hot new destination for Aussie travellers.
The city's vibrant neighbourhoods are great for aimless wandering, with delicious food on every corner to keep you going all day long.

Once upon a time, travellers to the Greek islands only had Santorini and Mykonos on their radars.
But now, Milos is the hot new destination for Aussies wanting something warm, sunny, and laid-back.
