These are the world's cleanest airlines for 2024

If there is one thing we really started appreciating during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's cleanliness. Especially when it comes to travelling in a confined space with hundreds of other strangers like on an airplane.

So choosing an airline, based on how stringent their cleaning processes are is something no doubt many travellers prioritise.

To help with that, the cleanest airlines in the world have been revealed, with the announcement of the 2024 Skytrax awards - considered the 'Oscars of commercial aviation'.

Votes were gathered from surveys of more than 21 million customers from 100 countries about 350 airlines.

Here are the top 10 cleanest airlines in the world right now....

7. Hainan Airlines

Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines was recognised as the 7th cleanest airline in the world. In the overall rankings it was considered the 12th best airline in the world and also placed 6th for the best cabin crew.

6. Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines is another South Korean airline headquartered in Seoul, beating its regional competitor to place sixth in the list.

4. Qatar Airways

In fourth place, Qatar Airways is among the cleanest airlines in the world. The Middle Eastern carrier based in Doha was also crowned the overall best airline in the world for 2024.

But the cleanest airline in the world for 2024 is Cathay Pacific, according to the Skytrax survey.

"These achievements will motivate us to continue to go above and beyond for our customers every step of the way as we strive to become the world's best premium airline," Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam said.

Cathay Pacific was also awarded the fifth best airline in the world, up three places from last year, and won the World's Best Economy Class Airline and the Best Economy Class Onboard Catering in Asia.
