This cat travelling the world by boat has a better life than most of us

It's a cat's life has never rang truer than for Amelia the Tropicat who is currently travelling the world aboard a boat with her owner, Liz Clark.

Living on a Swell, an 11-feet wide fibreglass sailboat, the duo spend their days sailing through the pacific.

Environmentalist Liz started her journey from California in 2008, finding a "first mate" in Amelia in 2013 after finding her in an empty mansion on a mountain.

Named after Amelia Earhart, the intrepid explorer and first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic, saying she "sensed right away that we shared a similar thirst for adventure".

Liz said: "She has adapted to living surrounded by water. She's learned to trust that she will be safe with me."

And the pair have now clocked-up 18,000 nautical miles and endless picture perfect Instagram pictures along the way.

The pair journeyed along the western coast of Mexico and Central America, as well as travelling to the South Pacific.

In fact, Liz's account has attracted 53.7k followers, described as the "she-pirate & the tropicat sailing the seas in search of good vibes."

"She has to go out of a cat comfort zone often," the US-born sailor added.

"But I think she now understands that I will keep her safe and she will have a lot of fun in the end. She makes Swell feel much more like a home."
