These beaches have the whitest sand in the world, according to new study
Nothing quite gets our travel wanderlust going than scenes of crystal clear, blue waters, and stunning white sand.
But where in the world can you find the whitest beaches?
Researchers from luxury villa travel agents CV Villas carried out a study of over 200 beaches around the world, using colour analysis theory and Google Maps images.
After finding out the sands' RGB colour code, the researchers compared this with the world's purest shade of white, to find out which beach truly is home to the whitest sands on the planet.
Here are the top ten.
9. Taylor Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos
Tying at number nine with a score of 8.5 points go to beaches found in the Atlantic Ocean.
The secluded and picturesque Taylor Bay Beach is on the southwestern coast of Providenciales, the main island of the Turks & Caicos Islands.
9. Stocking Island Beach, Bahamas
Stocking Island beach in the Bahamas had the same score. Located off the port of Georgetown, Great Exuma, highlights of Stocking Island includes blue holes, coral gardens, and undersea caves
8. Cala Brandinchi, Italy
Countries in Europe dominated the rankings, with half of the top 30 beaches being on the continent.
The first located in Italy is Cala Brandinchi, considered one of the most beautiful in Sardinia, located in the territory of the Municipality of San Teodoro along the eastern coast of the island.
7. Plage de Valras, France
A seaside resort off the Gulf of Lion on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, Plage de Valras, in Southern France, landed at number seven.
6. Cala Pluma, Spain
Spain has two entries on the list, the first being Cala Pluma in Ibiza, which offers a serene alternative to the bustling Playa de Ses Salines, located in the Sant Josep de Talaia area.
4. Platja de Muro, Spain
In equal fourth place, Playa de Muro is a large stretch of white sand beach in the northeast of Mallorca that has something for everyone; Clean, blue water, activities, restaurants and hotels.
4. Tropea Beach, Italy
The second Italian beach to appear in the top ten is Tropea Beach, found on Calabria's west coast.
Ranked equal fourth, the town features iconic houses built into the clifftop that offer wide vistas over the turquoise ocean, and the crisp white sand.
3. Marmari beach, Greece
Marmari Beach in Kos, Greece, has a 6.5 point difference in its sand shade compared to the whitest colour in the world, making it the beach with the whitest sand in all of Europe.
1. Tulum Beach, Mexico
Tulum Beach in Mexico has been named the beach with the whitest sand in the world.
The study found it's sand was just 1.4 points off the whitest shade in the world.
