Steve Peterson, 37, has travelled to Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Hawaii, Wilmington in North Carolina and Georgia on the hunt for the scenes of his favourite TV and movie moments, uploading the stark comparisons to his Instagram account @hollywood_irl along the way.

Some locations, like this iconic scene from Rocky at the Art Museum Steps steps in Philadelphia are eerily accurate to how they were depicted on the screen.

And some sites — like the McCallister house from Home Alone in Illinois — show how something like a sneaky coat of paint or the inclusion of the odd prop (or Christmas light) can transform an ordinary scene into something blockbuster ready.
