The Queen Mary Two shows off its astounding $160 million refurb

One of the world’s most luxurious cruise ships just got better, thanks to a $160 million refurbishment.

The Queen Mary Two has been greatly improved with a complete rethink on the ship’s interior.

This is much more drastic than lick of paint and a couple of new couches. Almost every wooden surface has been sanded and varnished, new carpet has been installed, furnishings have been changed, décor has been updated and the dining rooms are vastly improved.

Perhaps the biggest change is to the ship’s all-day buffet, which critics had compared to a bustling canteen. Now the area is spacious, relaxed and adorned with modern furnishings.  

The interior is reminiscent of the historic Queen Mary One, with the redesign paying homage to the old days of luxury cruising.

And it’s not just people who’ll enjoy the redesign - the ship’s kennel has been updated too. Cruise-loving pets will be impressed with the new lamppost (think of it like an extra ensuite) and the revamped kennel lounge.

The Queen Mary two is the flagship vessel of the Cunard line and was launched amid great fanfare in December 2004 after more than two years of construction. This is the biggest refurbishment so far in the ship’s life.
