Iconic Aussie hotel unveils new name after designer brand pulls plug: 'Grand legacy'
The iconic Palazzo Versace hotel on the Gold Coast will from now on be known as the Imperial Hotel, after the fashion brand chose not to renew its branding agreement with the property.
The luxury five-star resort's exterior, and Imperial Suites will remain unchanged, but the hotel's 200 rooms will undergo some refurbishment, to reflect its new beginnings.
"The Imperial Hotel will retain the essence of Palazzo Versace's grand legacy, and will continue to offer the highest standard of luxury and impeccable service, to ensure an unforgettable stay for our guests", Richard Clarke, Imperial Hotel General Manager, said.

The deal between the property and the House of Versace recently expired after two decades, following talks between representatives in Milan earlier this year.
When first built, The Palazzo Versace hotel was part of a $200 million spend, featuring opulent interiors including thousands of Medusa tiles, marble finishes, and an array of lavish Versace pieces.
The iconic, antique chandelier will continue to greet guests upon their arrival, while the lobby's rich furnishings and bespoke tableware will also remain.
Palazzo Versace founder Soheil Abedian expressed his sadness at the loss of the branding association with the House of Versace at the time.

"I am aware that the House of Versace did not continue with their agreement and it is sad that it will be coming to an end," he told the Courier Mail
"I hope that will become much better and given the location, it warrants an international brand coming in to manage it.
"I saw this development not just as a project but as the growth of our community because it was the first branded property linked with a fashion house and ultimately led to a number of other fashion businesses moving into property."
Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the sparkling Gold Coast Broadwater, the Imperial Hotel is one of Australia's top 5-star luxury hotels.
While the transition during the rebranding process promises to be seamless, the first guests booked to stay at the Imperial Hotel will be treated to an extraordinary stay. The hotel's staff have curated one-of-a-kind experiences, with packages on offer which include dining, complimentary breakfast, and a bottle of wine on arrival.
