Your first online friend, Myspace Tom, is living out his retirement as a talented travel photographer

What is left to do if you've already made millions from the sale of a social media platform you helped create? Travel photography, of course.

Tom, the guy we were all friends with on Myspace (or weren't friends with if you were particularly non-conformist), has been quietly plugging away at creating an impressive travel photography portfolio. Luckily, he shares all his snaps on Instagram and Facebook (oh, the irony) so we can all appreciate his work.

Myspace Tom – real name: Tom Anderson – has been taking photos for four years, according to his Instagram profile. Judging by these pics, he's become a pretty talented photographer in that time.

You can also catch some of Tom's photography on his website – where he shares relatable stories like the time he met Steve Jobs. Just in case you had managed to forget that this guy is internet royalty.

It seems time hasn't stopped Myspace Tom's reckless spirit: some of the pictures he says he had to take some risks to get – including this image of a volcano in Hawaii. According to a post on his Facebook page, he had to walk over lava to secure the perfect shot.

Although Facebook might be the name eponymous with social media now, Myspace Tom seems to be quite content with his life as everyone's first online friend.
