Jetstar reveals new $13 carry-on policy

One of the trickiest things when flying is managing to stay below your carry-on limit, or risk having to check it in.

For those who have been praying to the luggage gods for a few additional kilos to play with, Jetstar has announced they will increase their carry-on limit from seven to 10 kilograms – for a price.

From today, Jetstar travellers can purchase an extra three kilograms of carry-on from $13 on Starter Fares.

In a statement, Jetstar Group Chief Customer Officer, Catriona Larritt revealed that this initiative is all about catering to customers' needs.

"Customers told us that they would like the option to carry more on board and so we are pleased to be able to offer them the option to purchase an extra three kilos."

She added: "The extra carry-on allowance is particularly useful for those travelling with a laptop or camera bag or those travelling on short trips with an overnight bag who are after a quick departure from the airport without a wait at the baggage carousel."

Jetstar customers previously were limited to a strict 7 kilograms of combined carry-on weight between two items. So now, you can pack that extra pair of jeans.

The only catch? Carry-on bags must still comply with the size of the overhead lockers, and of course no liquids, aerosols, gels and powders are allowed if you’re flying internationally.
