When the sun's beating down hard and you're in the middle of the city, the struggle to cool down is something only a water fountain can cure.

Certain cities around the world (looking at you, Rome), have banned people from jumping into their fountains, but the same does not apply for the Big Apple. As long as you keep your clothes on, New York City allows locals and visitors to enjoy its water features scattered throughout the city, including Central Park’s iconic Bethesda Fountain.

Around the city there are 50 fountains, regularly cleaned by parks maintenance service, open for guests to take a dip in when it's too hot to deal.

Since it is a public water space, it's important to note that the fountains are in no way a swimming pool and aren't the place to wash yourself, your pet or your clothes. In other words, enter at your own risk and be sure to not drink the water.
