Gordon Ramsay's hot new restaurant has wait list of 'thousands'

Everyone's favourite potty-mouthed celebrity chef just added another property to his burgeoning restaurant empire, but if you're keen to check it out you'd better sign up quick.

Even before cutting the ribbon on his latest venture, Hells Kitchen in Las Vegas, chef Gordon Ramsay claimed a whopping 12,000 reservations had been made within the first 10 days of being open.

"It is unprecedented," the chef told the Los Angeles Times. "We've never seen this kind of demand."

The restaurant, which had its "grand opening" at the iconic Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas on January 26, has been themed on the chef's long-running reality series.

Late-to-the-party diners will have to go on a wait list for one of 300 seats in the venue that's modelled off the set of the Fox TV series.

Some of the fun design elements include a dining room split into red and blue "sides", a kitsch oversized fiery pitchfork and life-size video of the chef greeting diners at the entryway – yeah, this restaurant was basically made for Vegas.

Dish highlights from executive chef Jennifer Murphy's menu include 'Eggs in Purgatory', a 'Hell's Kitchen Burger' and Ramsay's signature 'Beef Wellington.'

Chefs and cooks all don uniforms from the show, complete with red and blue jackets and matching bandanas.

Diners will also get to experience a "high action" and "noisy" open kitchen, just like on the series, according to the original media release – whether that includes the occasional celeb chef profanely tearing into kitchen staff is yet to be confirmed.

If you're a fan of the reality competition, you can keep tabs on the winner of Hell's Kitchen All-Stars season 17, who is set to be named the restaurant's head chef.
