Photos reveal nightmare crowds at Disney World on New Year’s Eve

Disney World may be the happiest place in the world, but on New Year’s Day it was definitely one of the most crowded.

Frightening scenes (for some) taken at Disneyland on New Year’s Eve have revealed just how busy the theme park can get, and for anyone thinking of going next year, we suggest you maybe wait a few days.

While it may seem like the ideal place to ring in the new year, Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida saw park-goers waiting up to five hours for rides, standing in the same spot for six hours to reserve a place to view the fireworks, be shoved against people in the crowded park and endure wait times of 45 minutes for food.

It’s no secret all four of the Disney parks put on a good show for New Year’s Eve; there are fireworks more magical than usual, noise makers, special performances, dance parties, exciting and rare food and drink offerings. However, since the park had reached capacity, things didn't quite go to plan.

Revellers captured the anxiety-inducing footage, and it truly is the definition of claustrophobic.

The reason for the insane crowds?

Aside from the obvious, it turns out Disney World is quite the watering hole come New Year's Eve. Epcot, a more chilled sector of the huge park offers those of age to experience the best drinks from around the world.

The internationally-influenced town within the park is made up of mini countries and has a variety of restaurants, bars and pubs that offer some of the world's most iconic drinks.

In between 'China' and 'Germany' is the African Trading Post which make the famous Frozen Elephant, a mixture of frozen Coca-Cola and Amarula Cream Liquor.

After that you can head over to 'Mexico' for a refreshing avocado margarita at La Cava del Tequila.

Or perhaps you might like to enjoy a Viking Coffee at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in 'Norway.'

Perhaps it's too soon to start planning NYE 2018, but if you do head to the happiest place on earth, be sure to stop by Epcot.
