Mumbai to New York on the world's most expensive flight at $38,000

The gap between the rich and the not so rich is getting even more defined with the world's most expensive plane ticket currently going on sale.

Yep, for an eye-watering $38,000, Etihad Airways will connect well-off travellers from Mumbai and New York City via Abu Dhabi on their new A380.

The one-way tickets will allow guests to stay at private luxurious suite, The Residence, a three-room cabin, with bedroom, shower room and a lounge area for two guests.

Oh and there's also a personal butler, a pre-booked dining experience to cater to dietary requirements (no gluten, no problem) and 24-carat gold plated porcelain tableware and cutlery.

The ticket also includes luxury chauffeuring to and from the airport, VIP personnel on the ground, private check-in and lounge, and a personal concierge to make travel bookings.

The airline has five new A380, the largest plane in its class, and each of them have their own version of The Residence.

It comes after the Australian Government revealed plans to allow well-off travellers the opportunity to jump queues for a fee.

With the new scheme, released as part of the budget, tourists could even get their own terminal if they have enough cash to flash.
