New Orleans hotel offers $90k dessert in their 'Royal package'

Expect some serious celebrations for Queen Elizabeth's 90^th birthday in the coming weeks but perhaps none as decadent as this $90,000 jewelled dessert.

The imperial offering, found at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans, has been created by pastry chef Shun Li in honour of the royal birthday, which was last week but will continue to be offered for the next month.

Guests can enjoy the chocolate cake, covered in 24k gold leaf, gold covered strawberries and even Cristal champagne raspberry sauce, all with a ruby and diamond ring nestled on the top.

As part of their three-day accommodation package, the hotel includes private tours of the Windsor Court art collection and M.S. Rau Antiques, spa treatments and a "Collection Tasting" dinner for four, with the dessert. Decadent.

In total, the three night stay comes at a total of $119,260. A regal price tag for a regal stay.
