Stunning time-lapse footage shows rolling clouds at Mount Halcon in the Philippines

Striking video has emerged of clouds rolling over the top of Mount Halcon in the Philippines — but with the footage sped up, it's utterly mesmerising to watch.

The time-lapse clip, taken by Teddy Mondres, shows clouds rolling over the top of the mountain and gathering at the other side, looking more like a powerful cluster of waterfalls gushing over a ledge than serene clouds.

Located on the island of Mindoro in the Philippines, Mount Halcon is the 18th highest peak in the country at 2585 metres tall, but its steep slopes and shape have given it a reputation of being the hardest to climb. It was first ascended in 1906 by botanist Elmer Drew Merrill. 

The area is notorious for unpredictable weather, and when the clouds do roll in they often only last for a minute or two.

The clouds form part of the popular photo ops on top of the mountain, the other being the diving board of Mount Halcon — a small outcrop of rock which appears to be hanging off the mountain (but is actually safely nestled above flat rock).
