This updated London Tube map is a game-changer for health-conscious tourists
London's transport authority has released a new map of the Tube, which will make it easier for commuters to gauge whether they should ditch the stuffy trains and walk to their destination instead.
The new map indicates how many steps it takes to walk between train stations, with some stops closer together than you might imagine.
For example, only 400 steps separate popular tourist hubs Covent Garden and Leicester Square. That equates to roughly a five-minute walk through pleasant tree-lined streets, which makes catching a train hardly worth the effort.
But if you're in a rush, you might think twice before walking between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus, which are 1200 steps apart.
Transport for London hopes the new map will encourage commuters to walk to their destinations more often, which will improve public health and support local businesses.
