The best budget cities for travellers in Europe have been revealed
Taking a trip to Europe is never going to be an inexpensive exercise.
But if you're keen to explore the continent, there are certain places which will be a lot more friendly on your wallet than others.
Travel insurance experts at Quotezone have analysed data from the twelve most visited capital cities across Europe including Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Rome, to see which were the best for those on a budget.
The cities were ranked based on factors including tourist tax, hotel costs, the price of a meal and beer, public transport ticket costs, and the distance from the airport.

10. London
London being dead last in terms of affordability shouldn't really come as a surprise.
Though they don't charge a tourist tax, the price for food and hotels are sky-high.
According to the data, average hotel prices sit around $190 per night, and the cost of a pint of beer is over $12.
9. Rome
Another city that's notorious for high prices is Rome, Italy's capital city.
The city's tourist tax is a whopping $12 per person per night.
8. Berlin
Germany's capital city is a popular place to visit, but from a cost perspective, isn't the most tourist-friendly.
Though it's known for its vibrant nightlife, a meal out is about $22 while a pint of beer is around $7.
7. Vienna
The Austrian city of Vienna is known for its historic buildings and rich culture.
Located in central Europe, it's also a gateway to exploring the eastern countries - which are notoriously much cheaper.
While Vienna isn't as pricey as London or Rome, it's still not the cheapest option when planning your European holiday.
6. Athens
While many visitors head straight to the Greek Islands, Athens is certainly worth a visit.
With a rich history and delicious food scene, many travellers spend a couple of days here before heading to the islands.
