Croatia's national parks look like something out of a fairy tale following heavy snowfall
Conditions in Croatia are positively icy at the moment, with many parts of the country experiencing heavy snowfall over the past few weeks.
The conditions have seen the country's Plitviče Lakes National Park transformed into a gleaming winter wonderland, as local Ante Fabris (and his dog, who he calls his "little snowplow") discovered on a recent run around Kozjack Lake.
It took the pair around four hours to move 15km through the deep snow that covered footpaths in places – but it appears to have been well worth the effort, as they were treated to some truly spectacular scenery along the way.
Plitviče Lakes National Park sprawls over more than 295 square kilometres in central Croatia, and boasts a network of 16 spectacular lakes – of which Kozjack is just one – joined by picturesque waterfalls that flow into a limestone canyon. In the summer months, walkways and hiking trails are more easily accessible, with entry starting at $10 (HRK 55) for adults.
