Booking into a regular old hotel when exploring a new place is so 2000-and-late – today it’s all about quirky and unusual stays. And nothing screams quirky and unusual quite like accommodation shaped like the human digestive system.

Whether you like it or not an anus-shaped hotel exists in Belgium, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

CasAnus is a very real hotel room, kitted out with everything needed for a basic but comfortable stay. There’s a double bed, a shower, a toilet, a table, running water and electric heating to keep you warm on those cold winter nights.

The polyester hotel room was designed by the Dutch artist Joep Van Lieshout as an exclusive apartment, existing on the same grounds as the Verbeke Foundation – a modern art museum in Kemzeke, Belgium.

Into it or not, one thing’s certain – its unsightly image is now burned into your memory forever.   

A stay in CasAnus will cost you $192 (120 euros) which you might consider cheap or expensive, depending on how you feel about spending the night inside someone’s sphincter.
