This Scottish island selling for less than a Sydney terrace

It's the ultimate retreat, a three bedroom cottage nestled on its own private island off the coast of Scotland in the UK.

With nine acres of rugged coastline and total isolation,  the biggest surprise is that it's currently on the market for a mere $983k with Savills.

Yep, a little less than a terrace home in Sydney.

Included in the price is the cottage, and an adjacent one-bedroom guest house, plenty of land and a place to moor several boats.

The island is off the Crinan Harbour, which is a 160 km from Glasgow.

Andrew Perratt, head of Savills Residential, said there was already interest in those seeking the ultimate holiday home despite the listing being less than a week old.

He said: "We are expecting international interest from buyers in America and the Far East looking for a holiday home.

"In my experience people who buy islands are normally very busy people and it gives them a quiet retreat for weekends and holidays or retirement."
