Ikea respond to YouTuber's 'holiday' in their store

We've all heard of the saying "fake it til you make it'- which one YouTuber did, all the way to a fake Indonesian holiday.

US YouTuber Natalia Taylor made headlines this week when she revealed that an influencers holiday she apparently went on to Indonesia was fake- and actually all shot in her local Ikea.

In a video uploaded to her YouTube Account, Taylor revealed that she used a combination of using other people's Instagram stories that had been geo-tagged in Bali, combined with Snapchat videos that her friend who had been to Indonesia had sent her to fool people into thinking she was on holidays.

In her video Taylor spoke about avoiding the staff in the giant furniture in store, in fear that they would kick her and her photographer out. However, the YouTuber said that an Ikea staff member saw them taking photos and didn't mind.

Now the Swedish furniture giant has revealed that they are pretty pleased with how it made their displays look.

"We're very proud of our in-store room sets," a spokesperson for Ikea told 9Honey. "It's flattering that they are inspirational enough that in this instance, people have believed the blogger was in a beautiful holiday destination."

It's not the first time an influencer has played a prank on their followers and faked a holiday, last year London based YouTuber George Mason used his expert Photoshop skills to trick his followers that he'd been on an eight day European holiday.

"This video isn't sponsored by Ikea" Taylor says, before cheekily adding "Although I wish it was!"

"This video has a lesson" she says "Don't believe everything you see on the internet!"
