George Lucas finally unveils the location of his billion-dollar art gallery

Star Wars creator George Lucas has announced Los Angeles will be the lucky recipient of his new art gallery, after a long and competitive selection process.
The Lucas Gallery of Narrative Art will be built in Exposition Park with the construction costs – estimated to be around US $1 billion – to be footed entirely by the man himself.
The gallery has been described by Los Angeles Mayor Mayor Eric Garcetti as the "largest civic gift in American history".
Works inside the gallery will feature narrative art from all periods of human history – 19th-century classical paintings will share the same walls with contemporary comics and films, blurring the lines between 'high' and 'popular' art.

Many of the artworks will be from Lucas's personal collection, which has around 10,000 paintings and a selection of Hollywood memorabilia, including pieces from the Star Wars film.
The museum is scheduled to open in 2020.
