Traveller's sneaky booking hack to avoid the middle seat without paying
Getting stuck in the dreaded middle seat is a thought than would motivate many travellers to shell out a little extra cash and choose their own spot on the plane.
But not one Jorden Tually, a travel influencer who has shared a sneaky booking trick online that means he doesn't have to spend a cent on ensuring he avoids the middle spot.
"This travel hack has saved me from MANY a middle seat over the years. It's actually never failed me and has a 100 per cent perfect record when done correctly," he captioned a post on his Instagram.

In a video, Jorden showed himself checking into a Ryanair flight from Bologna to Barcelona, but said he didn't want to pay the extra $US9 ($13) to choose his seat.
"The flight that I'm about to check into still has a lot of middle seats available, so here is how I make sure I avoid them," he explained in the footage.

When looking at the seats still available on his flight, the traveller saw there were still plenty of middle seats unassigned.
So rather than checking in straight away, Jorden headed to the Ryanair website and 'pretended' to buy the remaining middle seats by filling out information for 10 'random' passengers.

"Next up, go to seat selection and select all the middle seats or all the seats that you definitely do not want to be sitting in. Then click continue," he said.
He explained the Ryanair website will "hold" the seats for around 10 minutes, and that's when you go to check in with your actual ticket.
Of course, this doesn't work on every airline, and may potentially not even work on Ryanair once they catch wind of his 'hack'.
Some of his followers also weren't convinced the effort was worth the reward.
"Just pay the $9," many comments read, while another wrote: "All this work to save $9? Ahhh never."

If you do want to spend money and choose your seat, 9Travel's Sami Lukis said she "cannot live without" the website 'seatguru' when booking flights.
"What you do is you put your flight number and date of travel in and it will tell you the seating configuration of the aircraft that's operating your flight," she told us.
"It will tell you which are the best seats and which seats to avoid, particularly if you're going to spend a little extra money to get an exit row seat or to get a window seat."
