Emirates claps back at electronics ban with cheeky in-flight entertainment ad

This week, authorities in the US and UK banned passengers travelling from Muslim-dominated countries from carrying electronic devices like laptops and cameras in their carry-on luggage.

Now, Emirates – a Dubai-based airline – have clapped back with a cheeky ad spruiking their extensive in-flight entertainment systems.

Starring Emirates ambassador Jennifer Aniston, the clip boasts the tagline "Let us entertain you" and asks, "Who needs tablets and laptops, anyway?"

Instead, they suggest travellers use the in-flight entertainment facilities, which include movies, TV shows, games, music, and news.

Citing security concerns, the ban has been enforced on non-stop flights from 10 international airports, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Abu Dhabi, and Jordan, and has been met by criticism from many tourists and commentators.

The ad was posted to the airline's official Twitter account overnight.
