Catriona Rowntree loves this cruise activity - even though she has 'no idea' what she's doing
You might think cruising is all cocktails and shore excursions, but there are plenty of other activities you can enjoy during a cruise holiday.
"I'm not very good a cooking," Catriona Rowntree admits.
And yet, signing up to a cooking class on a cruise is one of the number one things she would recommend to travellers.

"I think I'm a professional cooking class participant," the Getaway presenter tells 9Travel, pointing out that in addition to the expedition-style enrichment, Scenic cruises offer several hands-on cooking classes.
But the experience can also go beyond the ship.
"Something that I always encourage you to do if you're doing a cruise, sometimes the cook onboard will actually allow you to join them on a tour and you might want to go to a local market," she reveals.
"And I've always had an absolute ball doing that."

It's also the ideal time for memory making, as Catriona recalls being successful in catching her own fish to eat while on a Scenic cruise in Alaska.
"I never catch anything and on this one day I was in the zone and I caught some fantastic fish," she shares.
Another thing that is also important when doing a class is to actually pay attention.
"My problem is I talk all the way through them, and so I can be doing a cooking class and I have no idea what they're cooking," she laughs.
