These are the best cruise destinations in the world for 2024
Choosing who to cruise with is just as important as choosing where to cruise.
To help with that, the travel experts at Bounce have used data from cruise sites and analysed factors, including the number of restaurants, romantic activities, and beaches, to reveal 2024's best cruise destinations.
And one Aussie spot even made the list.
Here are the top 10.
10. Corfu, Greece
In tenth is Corfu, Greece, with a score of 7/10. You can walk right off the ship and visit the narrow streets of Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and marvel at the Italianate architecture at this pretty tourist spot.
9. Dubrovnik, Croatia
Dubrovnik, Croatia, lands in ninth position. A beautiful stone jewel hugging the Adriatic Sea, this picture-perfect medieval walled city offers ancient stone buildings, narrow cobbled streets, plus water activities like scuba diving.
8. Lanzarote, Spain
In eight place is Lanzarote, in Spain. But if relaxing on the beach is your ideal cruise holiday activity, then this is one of the best options with 100 beaches on offer, especially if you prefer a quieter beach visit.
The island boasts several black volcanic beaches. If golden sands are more your speed, Lanzarote offers plenty, from the Playa de Papagayo to the Playa de Famara.
7. Sydney, Australia
Coming in seventh place with a score of 7.2/10 is Sydney, which is also one of the best beach destinations, with over 100 beaches on offer for visitors.
Sydney is perfect if you like having access to many amenities while lounging in the sun, with plenty of shops and cafes to explore right next to world-famous beaches like Bondi Beach.
4. Phuket, Thailand
The only Asian location in the top ten, Phuket in Thailand placed at number four.
With a score of 7.49/10 what let it down was its higher than most average rainfall.
3. Valletta, Malta
Kicking off the top three is Valletta. The Maltese city scores 7.75 out of 10 thanks to its high proportion of sights and landmarks at a whopping 2,579 per 100,000 people, taking the top spot for the factor.
Due to its small population, it also ranks first for its proportion of restaurants, at 31,045 per 100,000 people.
2. Cartagena, Spain
Cartagena takes second place. The southern Spanish city ranks in the top five for its number of beaches with a total of 80 and its proportion of sights and landmarks, with 489 per 100,000 people. It also places in the top 10 for 168 family activities per 100,000 people.
Cartagena scores 7.73 out of 10 as a cruise destination.
1. Santorini, Greece
Taking the top spot as 2024's best cruise destination is Santorini, with a score of 8.13 out of 10.
The Greek island ranks relatively high across the board, especially in its proportion of romantic activities, taking second place at 1,839 per 100,000 people. Santorini also places second for its proportion of family activities, with 958 activities per 100,000 people.
