This Airbnb immerses guests in a piece of Tasmanian history - a church built in the 1870s by a convict turned successful businessman.

The 145-year-old heritage-listed building is beautiful by day (stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors) - but feels particularly eerie at night.
All booking revenue goes towards the restoration and maintenance of the building's historic features.

Formerly the Sydney Quarantine Station, this complex has a dark history with many deaths.
It's now a high-end boutique accommodation on the headland. If you're keen to be scared, book into an after-dark ghost tour of Q Station.
Don't worry, that bed pictured above isn't in the guest rooms, but is one of the quarantine buildings that's said to be the most haunted.

It looks innocent in the sunshine, but The Russell Hotel is reportedly haunted. The Russell Hotel
The Russell Boutique Hotel, Sydney, NSW
It might just look like another historic building in The Rocks, but this Sydney hotel is one of the most haunted dwellings in Australia.
Guests consistently report paranormal activity in the hotel. If you want a chance to glimpse a ghost, check in to Room 8, which is allegedly haunted by the ghost of a sailor.

Stylish but definitely spooky, this five-bedroom Historic Bluestone Homestead was built in 1869.
As well as being available to book on Airbnb, the property also hosts paranormal tours with ghost hunting equipment and a psychic medium, to get you in touch with the former residents of Chateau Kolor.
It's situated on a 296-acre farm with an 800m driveway... so no one can hear you scream.

It may be in a small rural town, but this pub is one of the most haunted in the country.
A number of deaths have occurred within the building, and there have been countless reports of paranormal experiences over the years.
Room 7 is reportedly home to a male guest who sometimes appears to guests staying in the room, where the overhead lights swing on their own and the taps turn themselves on and off.

The Stand Alone is a tiny secluded cabin, tucked into the Tasmanian wilderness, and truly lives up to its name.

The legendary Windsor isn't just a high-end hotel in Melbourne.
The historic hotel first opened in 1884, and has had a number of high-profile guests over the decades. In fact, one of those guests decided to stick around.
Guests and staff have reported hearing the singing of former guest, Australian soprano Dame Nellie Melba, echo through the halls at night.

Hotel Kurrajong, Canberra, ACT
It might just look like a regular hotel room, but Hotel Kurrajong will forever be cemented in history as the place where Former Prime Minister Ben Chifley suffered a heart attack before he died on the way to the hospital in 1951.
He was staying in Room 214, and his ghost is reportedly seen in and around that room.
