Couple and their one-year-old trek across the Australian outback

A thrill-seeking couple and their one-year-old daughter are defying the odds with a grueling expedition across the Australian outback, completely by foot.

Since July 2017, Justin and Lauren Jones, along with their baby Morgan have been lugging their supplies with them in a trailer for 900 kilometers, as part of their 1,800 kilometer goal.

The Jones family began their incredible journey near the border of Western Australia, and have since passed some of the country’s most recognisable places including the Olgas, Uluru, Lake Eyre and Lake Torrens.

Despite eating, sleeping and washing in the remote desert, the family haven’t completely taken themselves off the grid.

Posting whenever they can, the adventurous trio have chronicled their journey with a photo diary, posted to their website, making note of their stops along the way, and their milestones.

“The purpose of this expedition is to merge a family life and an adventurous life,” Lauren explained.

“We are attempting to settle down differently and break free of the traditional confines, safety and security that often go hand-in-hand with having children, at least for a period of time.”

Before they set out on their adventure, Justin explained that Morgan had just started walking for the first time.

“To see her not only learn to walk but run in the Outback, and adapt and thrive in one of the most unique, beautiful but also harshest and most remote areas in the world, is amazing,” he said.
