Australia's number one tourist landmark, according to social media users
Australia is home to some of the world's most stunning landscapes, whether that is its unique cityscapes or gorgeous beach views.
Within the famous cities and regions of Australia, there are several key landmarks that are must-sees for tourists visiting the country.
Specialists in travel, Travellers Autobarn, wanted to find out and highlight the best landmarks and cities to visit in Australia, so have put together a ranking using social media data.
Looking at hashtag numbers from TikTok, alongside average monthly searches for the landmarks, here are the top in-demand locations for 2024.
10. Port Arthur, TAS
Kicking things off at number 10 is one of Australia's most significant historical sites, Port Arthur. This former convict settlement provides you with a glimpse into the country's colonial past, and features in 5,700 hashtags on TikTok.
9. Busselton Jetty, WA
Busselton Jetty is the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere, stretching nearly two kilometres into the Indian Ocean. The picturesque location has over 7,100 hashtags.
8. Rottnest Island, WA
Just off the coast of Perth, Rottnest Island is stunning and particularly famous for its friendly quokka population. You'll also find biking and hiking trails, along with crystal clear waters that are ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
7. Uluru, NT
The most-Googled landmark in Australia Uluru placed seventh when ranked on on social media. Not only does the location offer up some of the most stunning landscape in Australia but you should also visit to learn more about its deep cultural significance for the Angangu people, the traditional custodians of the land.
6. Darling Harbour, NSW
Sydney Harbour is a world-famous location, but its little sister Darling Harbour has also not gone unnoticed coming in sixth place with 15,200 hashtags. You'll find SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, the Australian National Maritime Museum, and plenty of other fun entertainment and attractions to do.
4. Great Ocean Road, VIC
In fourth spot is the Great Ocean Road. Stretching over 240 kilometres and hugging Australia's southern coastline in Victoria, you'll find some breathtaking views of the cliffs and the ocean here, as well as The Twelve Apostles.
2. Bondi Beach, NSW
One of the most famous beaches on the planet, Bondi Beach has come in second place. You don't need to be a keen surfer to visit, with the Bondi to Coogee Walk another popular spot for anyone who loves ocean views.
1. Blue Mountains, NSW
Taking out the number spot in this ranking was the Blue Mountains, considered the top landmark on social media in Australia.
Gaining over 46,000 hashtags, TikTok users recommends travellers board the world's steepest railway train at Scenic World and take the Three Sisters Walk to explore the landscape and take in scenic views.

Melbourne wins best city
From the data analysed, the top cities to visit on your Australian road trip were also crowned, with Melbourne taking out the number one spot. A cultural hub and Australia's most popular city for social media interest, Melbourne is often dubbed the "city of arts and coffee".
