And while the idea of 'you get what you paid for' on a 10-plus hour flight could be risky, at the end of the day it's the destination you're really aiming for.
The best budget airlines for long-haul flights in the world have been revealed, with the announcement of the 2024 Skytrax awards - considered the 'Oscars of commercial aviation'.
Votes were gathered from surveys of more than 21 million customers from 100 countries about 350 airlines.
Here are the top 10 ten budget airlines right now that could save you some dollars on a big trip....
10. Discover Airlines
Discover Airlines (formerly branded Eurowings Discover) is a German leisure airline headquartered in Frankfurt. The airline offers short-, medium- and long-haul flights.
9. French Bee
Formerly named French Blue, French Bee is a French low-cost, long-haul airline based at Paris Orly Airport. It operates a scheduled network between France and worldwide leisure destinations with a fleet of Airbus A350s
8. Cebu Pacific
The Philippine low-cost airline, based at Pasay in Metro Manila, was founded in 1988 making it one of Asia's first low-cost airlines. It offers scheduled flights to both domestic and international destinations.
7. LEVEL
Fly Level SL, styled as LEVEL, is an airline brand under which airlines owned by the International Airlines Group operate low-cost flights. The brand has a registered office in Madrid, Spain.
6. Air Asia X
AirAsia X is a mid-range low-cost airline operating primarily in the Asia-Pacific region. It is part of the very successful AirAsia group which was named the World's Best Low-Cost Airline for the 15th consecutive year in 2024.
5. ZIPAIR
Zipair is a Japanese low-cost airline headquartered at the International Airport in Narita, Chiba. Initially founded in 2018, the airline is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan Airlines, from which it leases some of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
