Here are the three biggest culture shocks for travellers to Australia
Often when travellers visit Australia for the first time, they're shocked by how different our country is to the US or Europe.
Like the Canadian who was shocked that we add milk to our coffee instead of creamer, or the Brit who had no idea it actually gets cold here in winter.
If you love hearing about what visitors find strange about Australia, you'll love this: A study of recent TikTok videos has tallied up the top three culture shocks for migrants to our country.

Remitly, a digital financial services provider for immigrants and their families, analysed hundreds of videos on TikTok labelled 'culture shock' for nine countries around the world.
According to TikTok users visiting Australia, the number one culture shock is the way that we think it's acceptable to walk around barefoot outside and in shops.
The second thing that travellers seem to notice – and dislike – the most is the amount of Aussies who are sporting mullets, without a hint of irony.

Though the mullet is something of an Australian icon, thanks in part to Eric Bana, one Sydney school banned the hairstyle on its students. Waverley College introduced a new rule that students with the offending hairstyle can get a $20 haircut at the school gates, or they'll be sent home.
The third biggest culture shock, according to TikTok users, is just how much Aussies casually use swear words.
Last year a British expat went viral on social media for declaring that "there is something actually wrong" with us, after witnessing a chill conversation between two mates that was peppered with swear words.

The study also looked at culture shocks for those who've just moved to the UK – the number one topic is that you're able to safely drink tap water there.
The next most commonly mentioned shock is that many Brits use the phrase "you alright" as a greeting in place of "hello" or "hi". Anyone who's been to the UK knows the confusion that can come from this – are they actually questioning my wellbeing, or just saying hi?
The other culture shocks for UK travellers include the rainy and cold weather, the huge amounts of tea drunk by Brits, and being called "love" and "darling" by strangers.

Remitly also looked at data from some European countries. In France, a huge amount of the culture shocks relate to groceries, food and drinks – with migrants reporting being surprised at the fact that many French people will grocery shop every day, since food and fresh produce expires quickly due to less preservatives being used.
The amount of people who smoke, and the common greeting of kissing on the cheek also surprise those newly settled in France.
In Spain, the biggest culture shocks are the surprising number of beachgoers who sunbathe topless, along with the lateness of evening meals, bedtimes and nights out.
Those mentioned by people who have moved to Italy for the first time include drinking wine with every meal, the espresso culture in the country and the 'dress to impress' attitudes of Italians when it comes to everyday outfits.
