The large scale sand art that Byron Bay residents keep waking up to

There's no doubt that Byron Bay has a magical feel to it, but perhaps waking up to a beach covered in something similar to crop circles adds a little mystery.

Yep, over the last few years, residents and visitors often wake to find the stretch of Byron Bay covered in mesmerising sand art, swirls and ying yang shapes throughout.

And now the culprit, the ever-talented Craig Gascoigne has set-up an Instagram to showcase all his hard work.

Using the beach as his canvas, he transforms large stretches of Byron Bay and nearby beaches into unusual etchings.

With a small rake as his only tool, he spends hours mastering the sand art.

He says: "My mission is to infect the world with love. I draw healing pictures of love your deeper self understands so enjoy."
