The top ten beaches in Australia have been revealed

As featured on the TODAY show this morning, TripAdvisor has revealed the world's best beaches in the annual Traveller's Choice awards.

While the list features hotspots in exotic locations like Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos (which came in #1), it is a local Sydney beach which was named the best in Australia.

In the clip above, Australia's top 10 beaches are revealed, with Manly Beach taking out the top spot.

This iconic spot was nominated by travellers as a "must-see" during a Sydney visit.

Manly is one of Sydney's most iconic beaches, nominated by travellers as a "must-see" during a visit. The first beach to allow daylight swimming in 1903 and to host the world's earliest surfing championship in 1964, Manly is a firm favourite with Aussies.

Unlike other beaches in Australia, getting to Manly Beach is effortless. It's just a ferry ride from Circular Quay in the CBD, and is surrounded by excellent cafes, shops, bars and restaurants.

Previously, Whitehaven along the Whitsunday coast was Australia's most loved beach, famed for its white sands. However it slipped to third place this year, and Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast upped its ranks to the number two spot.
