The best bucket-list hike in Australia is a 7km walk with panoramic views
Australia is one of the best places in the world to hike.
From the rugged, wild coastline of Tasmania to the sandstone canyons of the Outback, our island is home to some seriously great trails.
Hiking app AllTrails has released a round-up of the best Bucket List Hikes across the country, spotlighting the ten trails that hikers most want to complete.
And according to AllTrails, one in three Aussies has a hiking bucket list - so if you need to build yours out, read through to see the top ten and get some inspiration.
10. Cape to Cape Track, WA
The Cape to Cape Walking Track is a long-distance trail located in the far south-west corner of WA, which people come from across the globe to see.
It features amazing coastal views, sections that traverse the region's forest, and into the heart of wine country.
It's 125km long but can easily be done in sections.
9. Uluru Base Walk, NT
Uluru's base walk is a must-do for anyone visiting the Red Centre. The 10km track takes you around the entire base of the rock, of which you can complete the full loop or explore individual sections.
Set aside about three hours to do the whole thing, and bring plenty of water and sun protection.
8. Thosborne Trail, QLD
Head to Tropical Queensland to tackle the Thosborne Trail, a one-way multi-day walk that traverses the rugged eastern terrain of Hinchinbrook Island.
The island is an uninhabited national park, with beaches, headlands, jungle, waterfalls, and tropical rainforest.
The best time to go is between April and September to make the most of the cooler weather. And book ahead, as it tends to fill up!
7. K'gari (Fraser Island) Great Walk, QLD
A 90km trail, the K'gari Great Walk is five to seven days of exploring the different forests and perched lakes in the interior of the world's largest sand island.
It's a unique way to really soak up the beauty of the island - camping along the way - though it can also be separated into day hikes or overnight jaunts.
6. Cape Raoul Track, TAS
Cape Raoul is one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks - it takes about five hours to complete.
The walk heads through coastal forest, with jaw-dropping views over the rocky coastline.
5. Overland Track, TAS
The Overland Track is an epic journey and Australia's best alpine hike, clocking in at 65km and six days.
The trek takes you through the heart of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.
There are public huts and tent platforms along the way, though you'll need to bring camping gear, food, and water.
4. Cape Le Grand Coastal Trail, WA
Another stunner in WA, the Cape Le Grand Coastal Trail runs 20km along the state's south coast.
It has amazing coastal views the whole way, and people like to break up the walk with camping at Lucky Bay or Cape Le Grande.
The trail passes the stunning white sands of Hellfire Bay, and also world famous Lucky Bay, with its population of kangaroos.
