Pull on your stretchy pants because a doughnut festival is headed for Melbourne
A festival dedicated to dougnuts is coming to Melbourne this winter, spruiking cult doughnut brands and even hosting a doughnut-eating contest.
Donut Festival will take over Queen Victoria Market for one day on Sunday, June 6, featuring everything from cinnamon rings and churro bowls to chocolate-filled and hot jam doughnuts.

As well as a smorgasbord of doughnuts, there'll be '50s-style milkshakes, hot chocolates, coffee and more.
Leading the delicious festival line-up is cult bakery Bistro Morgan, famous for such treats as the Creme Brulee and Gaytime Crunch doughnut, and American Doughnut Kitchen, renowned for their hot jam doughnuts.

Doughnut fans can also look forward to checking out St Gerry's, Short Stop Melbourne, Churro Kitchen, Pasta Face, Mimmo's and Gorilla Grill.

Melbourne pastry chef Darren Purchese (Burch & Purchese) will also be hosting a doughnut-eating contest, encouraging competitors to scoff down as many as they can in two minutes for the chance to win a year's worth of hot jam doughnuts from American Doughnut Kitchen — as well as vouchers from Queen Victoria Market.

The contest kicks off between 11.30am and 1.30pm, but contestants are required to register beforehand at qvm.com.au/whatson/donut-festival.
Entry to festival is free, and includes live entertainment.
