Wrestling world remembers WWE star Brodie Lee who has died age 41
Former WWE star Brodie Lee has died at age 41, his wife confirmed on social media.
Professional wrestler Jonathan Huber, known in the ring as Brodie Lee and formerly known as Luke Harper, died on Saturday after a battle with "a non-covid related lung issue", according to his wife Amanda Huber, whom he married 2008.
In the heartbreaking Instagram post Mrs Huber spoke about the person her late husband was.
"My best friend died today. I never wanted to write out those words. My heart is broken," she wrote.
"He was my best friend, my husband, and the greatest father you would ever meet. No words can express the love I feel or how broken I am right now."
Huber, who was from Rochester in New York, was receiving treatment for the undisclosed lung condition from physicians at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs Huber hailing the medical team there, as the best.
"The @mayoclinic is literally the best team of doctors and nurses in the world who surrounded me with constant love," she wrote.
Brodie Lee was a WWE star from 2012 until 2019 when he moved over to All-Elite Wrestling (AEW) in March.
Wrestling stars around the world sent heartfelt messages for the loss of the star.
John Cena shared a picture of the two in the ring, with no words needed in the caption.
While Wrestler Randy Orton wrote on Twitter "I don't have the words. #RIPBrodieLee May God send his beautiful family as much strength as possible."
In an Instagram post Nikki Bella shared a picture of the former WWE star writing, "His laugh lit up a room. He was so much fun to watch. And his kind soul will live on forever. You were your own kind Luke. RIP."
In a statement, WWE also paid tribute to Huber, writing that he "found success in every stop of his sports-entertainment career, as his soft spoken yet imposing presence helped him create countless awe-inspiring moments in the ring."
Huber leaves behind his wife and their two sons.
