Australia's Matt Wilkinson has overcome a second-round scare to advance in the World Surf League event at Jeffreys Bay
Wilkinson had to survive a strong challenge from wildcard Michael February.
The current men's tour leader, Wilkinson surfed two medium waves while his South African opponent was denied a second opportunity.

The heat was one of only two to be completed on Sunday after the swell dropped, causing inconsistent waves.
"Mikey (February) has been surfing really good the past few days so I'm stoked to get the win," Wilkinson said.
"When the tide's this high you're so close to the reef so I'm happy to finish the heat intact and ready for round three."
